Dual-fuel engines

In gas-run dual-fuel applications, gas is injected into the engine via the inlet manifold. In order to ignite the gas, the gas ignition injector injects a small quantity of diesel or marine diesel oil (MDO) into the compressed gas/air mixture without the need for an electrical spark ignition. When liquid fuels are used, the gas ignition injector is also used specifically to optimize the combustion sequence. The nozzle configuration is selected to match the delivery rate, spray form and injection pressure.

Bosch offers single-injection systems and special dual-injection systems for dual fuel operation available both in standard and compact sizes.

The gas admission valve

In developing the new gas admission valve (LEGV), Bosch has added gas fuel to its fuel injection options and extended its product portfolio for large engines. The LEGV injects gas into the intake manifold on the engine with extreme precision and ensures that the air and gas are mixed extremely well.
