In combination with effective temperature management, SCR-based exhaust-gas treatment can do even more to reduce nitrogen oxide emissions. Bosch has developed an SCR technology called DI-SCR that uses a double injection of urea. With this system, a quantity of urea – the exact amount depends on the current driving situation – is injected into a catalytic converter situated close to the engine as well as into another catalytic converter located further away from the engine. DI-SCR helps vehicle manufacturers to also maintain compliance with emission requirements that are expected in the future.
